Please note, as this is a volunteer run club, the children’s behaviour remains their parent’s responsibility while participating.

Once outdoors, please ensure that children have appropriate clothing and footwear. When the grass is damp or soft then football boots would be beneficial. Shin pads are recommended.

Blackhall Primary Football – P1 Signup

Primary 1 Football

The School Football Club is run by a group of parent volunteers, who organise weekly coaching sessions and occasional games throughout the school year. In recent years the club has grown to well over 200 pupils, including boys and girls of all abilities, and has even achieved a fair degree of success at senior competitive levels.
For the P1s the emphasis is on basic skills, teamwork and most of all having fun!

The P1 football will start late September. We already have a slot and venue booked: 6-7pm each Tuesday at Mary Erskine Sports hall – all we need now are players and coaches!

P1 Players
A sign-up form will be distributed to all P1 pupils early in the term, so watch this space.

P1 Coaches
The football club relies on a group of parent coaches to make it happen. Hence, we are looking for volunteers! The existing P1s and P2s have about 8 coaches each. This means that the commitment is fairly relaxed, and missing the odd week is no problem.
No prior experience is required, although participation in formal (SFA) coaching courses (and occasional meetings down the pub) is actively encouraged. Also, all main coaches will need to complete the appropriate Disclosure approvals (gained via the school).
If you (and/or your spouse/partner) are interested and would like to be included in the pool of P1 coaches, please get in-touch as soon as possible. I’d also be delighted to answer any queries you may have.

World Cup rescheduled and Coaches beers

The P6/P7 World Cup has been postponed, due to the park becoming a duck-pond.

It has been rescheduled for Tuesday 27 June, once the normal sunny Scottish summer has returned.

The Football Coaches are planning their Summer Beer/Meeting, so get the following in the diaries if you want to join us.
Saturday 10th June – Morrison St, Foxy Fiddler (formerly Cuba Norte / Priory)
– 5pm onwards some football on TV
– 7pm onwards beer and chat

Sports Day – Football Stall volunteers required

Beat the Goalie Schedule – 2017 (pdf)

Football Coaches,
Every year, the Blackhall Childrens Sports Committee organise the Sports Day in Ravelston Park.
This year, the Sports Day will take place on June 3rd from 12:15 to 16:45.

In order to help us to raise money on the day we ask that the Football coaches run the ‘Beat the Goalie’ stand.
In previous years there have been 2 coaches supervising the stand for a 30 minute slot before another 2 coaches take over.

If you can lend a hand then let me know on any Tuesday night in the park during football practice when I will come round to ask for volunteers.
(or reply by email to schofs @ )

Your help on the day would be greatly appreciated and will make a big difference to the awards which we can distribute back to the community.

Many thanks
Paul Schofield

If you are not aware of what the BCSC is and what we do for the community then here are a few lines taken from our Facebook page:

“The BCSC was formed in 1909. The committee is voluntary and is made of 16 members who are all parents of children at Blackhall Primary School (P1-P7).
We have 3 roles:
1. Sports Awards: we make annual donations to individuals, projects, clubs or organisations
2. Sports Day: we organise, fund and run the annual Blackhall Children’s Sports Day in Ravelston Park
3. Events: we organise various events throughout the year to raise money in order to fund the Sports Awards and Sports Day.”
